Sometimes..

...not everything works that you've tried before.

So in the meantime, listen to this and rest. Stressing doesn't help as much as we think it does.

Enjoy. and don't forget to hope.

Just Hush and Hear

Close your eyes and see it all; a rare glimpse into the quiet thoughts of my father.
Here is a song to accompany your reading. I particularly like this:
/In these bodies we will live, in these bodies we will die
/Where you invest your love, you invest your life
Enjoy.

One July Twenty-Eleven
And a Tom turkey gobbling away up in the woods behind us.

The mocking bird sounds like the bird newscaster with an infinite vocabulary never seeming to make the same combination of sounds twice.

The crows(terrorists) are squawking in the distance as they raid smaller bird's nests.

The regular raider from above (Blue Jay) of the dog food was a minute ago announcing to the hood that breakfast was down.

A myriad of sounds from within the quiet all sounds very peaceful but with knowledge of systems in nature, in the peacefulness exhibited I know there is the struggle of survival- food? Water? Mate? Predators? Heat? Cold? Enjoyment?

Especially thinking enjoyment of living - watching the Purple Martins buzz me on the mower they appear to be playing a game of chicken only to zoom away in a 90 degree turn within feet of me... that too, is likely a function of their survival consuming the almost invisible small bugs stirred by the mower.

Is this all one species viewing another with inherent dissatisfaction of their "lot" wanting to experience the freedom and joys of another?

I enjoy flying... Is that an escape? Is sure is an expensive proposition to be like a bird while functioning in the transportation business.

Clothing - why do we find enjoyment in multiple colors and designs? Do we look at the birds and their many colors a intricate details of design and want or own?

The evolutionary psychologist would describe everything from dating to altruism in terms of an unconscious evolutionary drive for survival...

What a blessed confidence we are allowed to know that we are crafted in the image/likeness of Him, our Author.

I hope even today yours and my head and heart are wise with enjoyment to the ways of Him who created us.

This great complexity with ups and downs and thankfully some straight and level times is saturated with the opportunities of a realization of Him and being a functioning part of His creation.

You could have been a bug...?

Sitting in a place where I've sat before

The clouds rise and fall, fading from white to smoky blue and grays. Slim, steel beams faded to a murky brilliance reminiscent of the calm invitation on a cold water handle connect the sky to the familiar Chattanooga horizon. It feels like home. Water diamonds drip sporadically from the kidney bean red railings, subtly reminding onlookers' subconscious of the basic premise of our reality. Gravity. The unseen thing that stabilizes us. The smooth foam reaches my lips before the hot, grainy mocha spreads through my taste buds, successfully battling the hopeful gloom just outside the window, just outside my soul.

One of my inspirations is moving to Buenos Aires. Have always wanted to make that throbbing city one of the three cities I call home. I hope so much to visit him in the next decade. To say I am proud of him is an understatement. I look forward to letters and following this religiously.

I am 25 years old. No song for this era is selected yet. Almost always open to suggestions.

Full Moon Edition

Something for you to hear. Don't judge, just listen.

 Division Street, facing west

How many times have you heard someone comment that their seven year old child "could have done that," whatever the artwork might be?

I've made similar comments. And then I realized that while I might have the full capability of scribbling a few lines that look like a figure or erratically dripping paint over a canvas, I didn't. And then when I started doing I realized that there are so many more factors to art than the product. As an artist there is process, inspiration, finding one's creative methods, growing projects out of other projects, decisions, discernment, ideas, technical skill, etc, etc, etc that must be considered and determined. In the "art world" its timing, audience perception, buyers' perception, location, connections, promotion, etc, etc, etc..

Your seven year old might have been able to do that but they didn't.

I could have done a lot of things, but I haven't.

Division Street, facing east
I've tried the new moon tilted in the air...
As you might try a jewel in your hair...
-Frost, please.

"Let's just face it, MA, you know how to blow smoke."

That has changed.
I produce and blow smoke.
I am pursuing prolific.

The moon was full last night.
The air and light were cooling nectar to my soul.

I was there.
It changed me.
I took a few pictures.

I was born under a full moon.
There is something about her that is so mesmerizing and captivating.

I see the moon.
The moon sees me.
God bless the moon.
God bless me.

Slideshow Side Show

Very close friends of mine said 'farewell' to one of their very close friends the weekend before last. A mother should never have to bury her child. This is not what we were meant for.

Upside: Getting to see most of my family
for at least a few hours each.
A sister was missing.
Don't I have a beautiful family?

What's black and grey and red on top?
'Nuh is missing.

Even better my brother and I drove manual from Chili's to his house. When I say "we" its true.
Peace, Love, and Curbs

We have the same wrinkle in our foreheads.

Winter once again,
knitting needles are out.
Two scarves down.
Final project to be shown.

Thank you, Dictionary.com

Ode to the Young & the Restless, From The Late Bloomer.

I keep hearing that we all have to grow up by ourselves. No matter how many people are around us, we still feel alone during these--dare I say those?--difficult years. Still, we feel like we had to figure it out alone.

Maybe it is--was--better for us to grow up with our person and intentions clouded by misunderstanding and thus forsake the illusion of being comprehended.

These are important years. Your heart is important. So is your joy. Your hope.
pain. struggle. loneliness. all of these things create so much beauty and life and resilience--like damage to a tree makes for the most exquisite grains. More importantly- all of this makes for the source of you. Don't ever give You up and don't forget to fight for it. This is a time of discovery and experimentation. Learn how to communicate yourself; explore outside of your box. Stand tall. Breathe deep. Salute the Sun rising, racing to produce a fraction of the beauty she creates before setting in an array of color. Find the source of your light and never let it go.

Give yourself and your circumstances the credit they deserve. It will all pay off.
Keep your head up, that smile big, and the accent true. You will make it through this. And no, no one will ever understand...but that's the where the strength of your pain is.

With all my heart, support, and a generous dose of light.

Always.

Having Arrived Upon a New Chapter

8 May 2010. 10:00am. 13th person to walk.

Did not know if I was going to make it.

It was a feeling like I have never had before. Similar to that of Winona Ryder's character when she escaped Claymoore in Girl, Interrupted (1999).

My whole family came in town. They stayed on the historical Delta Queen. Alaska and Jer traveled to be there, too.
Camping that night was classic. The minuscule ticks that we found all over the next morning were not, however.

I feel some sunshine on my face for the first time in a while; perhaps it is from the light at the end of the tunnel. Exciting feeling of being pushed out of the nest where I flustered and exhausted myself for the last four years; now I am too tired to fly.

Thus the wind has carried me to a resting place near Nashville where I can spin my cocoon and rest. Cutting ties, setting goals, breathing deeply, starting an adventure fund, marrying off a best friend, unifying the split personalities I have developed, train for sprint triathlon, and exploring different media...

This is a start. This is my time.

Oh- and getting a car since I seem to be experimenting with spontaneous combustion. Thankfully, though my entire portfolio and all of my artwork was in the backseat, nothing was damaged.

Here Goes:

This is a dream of mine epitomized. These are a few of the things I notice and muse upon. I don't know entirely what I'm doing. Bear with me: I will get the hang of it.

I went to a film festival Thursday with my man-cub. "Shut your mouth, Love," he was nice enough to remind me when he looked over to see my jaw drop yet again.

Been daydreaming about what I want to do with my next few years. I miss reenacting and really want to spend at least a few weeks on-site somewhere. This is during the 1730s: teaching my younger "sister's" now husband to dance when I was 16--I think. Hot toddy, anyone?

I generally don't like red nor can I wear it...but this jacket is spectacular. May I have it, please, Miss Sixty?
